FrontRunner North Commuter Rail Line

Posted to

Now getting around the Wasatch Front of Northern Utah is even easier with the new FrontRunner North commuter rail line. Completed by the Utah Transit Authority in April 2008, FrontRunner North uses a portion of the historic Utah Central Rail Road right-of-way, connecting the communities between Pleasant View and Salt Lake City in approximately 40 miles of track. Currently there are eight stations open, with speculations to possibly extend the line as far north as Brigham City. With monthly passes at just $145 and flexible hours of operation, commuting to Salt Lake City via FrontRunner North is cost-effective and helps reduce the bumper to bumper traffic woes of the big city. Also, the FrontRunner North schedule is flexible—running Monday thru Saturday at half hour and hour-long intervals—which means that the FrontRunner is not only great for getting to work and back, but also for day trips and leisurely travel throughout Northern Utah.

In addition to an extension of FrontRunner North, Northern Utahns can look forward to the completion of the FrontRunner South line, scheduled for 2012. FrontRunner South will run from Salt Lake City to Provo, with seven stations in between.
