United We Stand!

Posted to

Last week I had the chance to attend a luncheon for the Weber North Davis Association of Realtors®. Our new board president is Sandy Hoover. I’ve never met her before the luncheon but I was very inspired by her uplifting message that she delivered with enthusiasm and hope. She raised 10 children on her own and literally moved from rags to riches purely on the principles of hard work, faith, and persistence. Sandy is a living example of what all of us can accomplish as we strive to move forward through any of our challenges.

In one way or another we’ve all been affected by the changing economy. We’ve all felt the pressure of expensive gasoline. Some have really felt the stress coming from diminishing investments or retirement accounts. All of us have watched our home’s value or salability drop and we’ve all heard the sad story of someone we know that has lost their home to foreclosure or been forced to “short sale.” I don’t know about you but I’m growing really wary of listening to the radio and television programs that discuss our horrible economy and the horrible housing situation. Sandy Hoover reminded me that many of us have already weathered national recessions in the past and many if not all of us have endured “personal recessions or setbacks.” We can get through hard times because we’re Americans and nothing gets us down. Hard work always pays off and I really feel that no matter what comes our way we can handle it. I found a great quote from Elbert Green Hubbard: “When on the brink of complete discouragement, success is discerning that… the line between failure and success is so fine that often a single extra effort is all that is needed to bring victory out of defeat.” Let’s dig in and get through these hard times together! Nothing gets us down!
